Winchester Model 1873 Third Model octagon rifle, serial #163889, chambered in .44-40 with a 24-inch barrel. The receiver retains 70% toned blue with some small scratches and high-point edge wear. The hammer and lever have mottled patina. The octagon barrel retains 50% original blue mixed with plum, with high-point edge wear. The sights are factory original, and the original dust cover fits nicely and tightly. The original wood has a small chip missing from the right forearm and retains its original worn oil finish; the wood-to-metal fit is fine. The supplied description rates the bore 8.5–9, with strong rifling and a nice shine. It also identifies the rifle as an antique and notes a Cody letter.
