Description
Winchester Model 1873 Third Model saddle ring carbine, serial #535745, chambered in .44-40 with a 20-inch round barrel. The receiver retains 45–50% original blue with high-point edge wear, four to five small dings on the left side plate, and a couple of small cleaning marks. The dust cover fits nicely, and the hammer and lever have gray, mottled, faded case color. The barrel and magazine tube retain 50–60% dull, faded blue with some patina. The barrel bands fit perfectly, and the front and rear sights are original carbine sights. The barrel markings and address are crisp and clear; the rear tang marking is clear with handling wear. The rear stock screw shows damage. The factory carbine wood set is described as being in very good condition, with no cracks, splits, or repairs, a fine wood-to-metal fit, and its original stock oil finish. The bore is described as bright and shiny, rated 9. The supplied description identifies the carbine as Curio & Relic and notes a Cody letter, included as a gallery image.
